Ali's Hope, Outreach for Success

The Ali's Hope fund was established in memory of Alyson "Ali" Gallagher who took her life on April 29, 2007. Ali suffered from a brain disorder known as schizoaffective disorder. Ali was a young woman, full of life and she was a generous and giving person. Devoted family and friends would say that this fund represents her incredibly generous spirit and is something she would be pleased to have named in her honor.

The fund was established by Joe and Helen Gallagher, Ali's parents, and the Lakeside Foundation Board of Directors which Joe has been a member of for several years. The fund assists other young adults who are affected by brain disorders commonly known as mental illness. The purpose of the funding is to provide services to these individuals upon discharge from a hospital setting. The needed services are not normally covered or paid for by government sources or insurance carriers. These are services that many people cannot afford, but desperately need. Lakeside provides counseling, case management and other services, including supportive housing to these individuals as they are identified. We hope that by making a proactive approach with our clients that we can improve their quality of life.

Joe and Helen's hope is that not only will the quality of life be raised with this effort, but that lives will be also saved.
